UNDERDOG

NBA ROLE: ATHLETIC WING

Wes Johnson just might be a top-5 athlete at his position…and on top of that, he has one of the nicest looking jumpers you’ll see – that said, Wes hasn't broken away from UnderDOG status; possessed with hops that’d make Terrance Stansbury blush, Johnson uses his leaping ability to rise up for 3s & score in transition; has made a point to improve as a perimeter defender – 3&D skeleton – nice situation to swack open 3s and D up; consistency is everything: Wiz could use more scoring & athleticism off the bench – can Wes provide that spark?

#0•T. ULIS

PG • 5’10, 160 lbs; 3rd year, Kentucky

UNDERDOG

NBA ROLE: SPEEDY DISTRIBUTOR

Tyler Ulis: quick shot-creator; pure passer – not a distinction most young guards can claim* – Ulis paces well, can turn on the jets when necessary; sees the game a couple steps ahead – if Ulis recognizes an advantage, he’ll look to make a play; won’t normally make unnecessary passes or poor decisions w/ the ball in his hands; quick & light on his feet: an obvious observation for a guy at 5’10, 150 – can weave through traffic and get to spots like no other; solid floater but can needs to finish better amongst the trees; needs to work on shot selection, spot up shooting; comfortable taking jumpers OTD after screens; competes defensively, has to 2x work harder to keep up w/ elite PG play on a nightly basis; landed w/ hometown Bulls - on 2Way deal, fighting for minutes in CHI’s crowded backcourt

*especially in today’s more shot-happy era of PGs

#15•A. WILLIAMS

F/C • 6’8, 265 lbs; 4th year, UCSB

UNDERDOG

NBA ROLE: BRUISING 4/5

UCSB’s Alan Williams: an ‘undersized/oversized’ four man who gets after it on the inside and pounds the boards; pretty quick for his size, tremendously strong & has a decent touch – Williams is crafty around the rim; Sauce isn’t what you’d traditionally label a shooter but he can stretch the floor justtt a little bit; needs to slide better on D, give up his body for charges (not a shot-blocker at 6’8); excellent teammate – goes nuts whenever teammates make a play – forever hype, features some of the league’s best celebrations; overlooked his entire basketball career – on 2Way deal, BKN is a nice opportunity to earn a 15-20 min. role – Nets could use Williams’s toughness and rebounding up front

#16•P. ZIPSER

F • 6’8, 226 lbs; 3rd year, Germany

UNDERDOG

NBA ROLE: (RAW) HYBRID FORWARD

Paul Zipser, a second-round German prospect, spends time at both forward spots in Chicago; at 6’8, Zipser’s shown some versatility – decent shooter* & defender, adept at attacking closeouts from the corner; able to hit 1-2 dribble pull-ups – important shot in the evolution of Zipser’s offensive attack; must become more inventive w/ the rock, add strength & focus on staying disciplined on defense; undefined NBA role – looking to rejoin Fred Hoiberg's rotation (dealt w/ injury/inconsistency in 2017-18) – is Zipser a stretch 4/slasher at his peak?

*slow-ish shot release but is able to lift clean looks even if a defender closes hard
