Omer Asik

OMER ASIK (CHI)

#3•O. ASIK

C • 7’0, 255 lbs; 9th year, Turkey

UNDERDOG

NBA ROLE: RESERVE 5

Big Omer Asik, a very well compensated* UnderDOG, (ideally) makes an impact on the glass and near the basket; Asik is a defensive-minded center who’s declined as a rim protector in today’s game; doesn't provide much offense: hands of stone (struggles w/ the catch part of catching & finishing); takes his time before deciding what to do (reversing back, hook shot, scoop) – decent roll finisher – one of a few true centers (the only European one?) who strictly scores via catches, put backs, etc.; solid help side defense is Asik’s saving grace, though his ineptitude on offense has worn thin; back in the CHI – veteran backup, only plays short stretches off the bench

G • 6’2, 185 lbs; 4th year, Oregon

UNDERDOG

NBA ROLE: SCORING COMBO GUARD

Joseph ‘Mighty Joe’ Young: an undersized two guard with a solid “one-two” off the bench; has looked comfortable as a shooter and finisher in limited action – Young lacks ideal size but is a pretty clever shot creator – strong & confident w/ a live dribble, cashes Js off the bounce, finds the open man after a screen; a keeper down the road for plenty of second-unit buckets – don’t be shocked if Young is a rotational, 8th or 9th man for Nate McMillan to rely upon at some point
