NBA ROLE: (RAW) ATHLETIC, SCORING TWO-GUARD

 

Jason Preston’s a possible second round steal: skilled + methodical floor commander w/ an equally as compelling* NBA journey; advanced basketball IQ (very prevalent in his game), seems like Preston sees the game from multiple vantage points: fundamental reads are automatic; good size at PG (6’4), admirable talent in nearly every area of basketball - good upside as an all-around G; game is all about control on both ends of the floor - Preston keeps the ball on a string offensively, tries to empower his teammates before anything…on defense, he does what it takes to limit his matchup from getting in a rhythm; soft touch inside on floaters & runners, good finisher below the rim; next steps in his game are a steadier outside shot, escape moves and getting to the line at a higher rate; missed initial rookie season (’21-’22) due to a foot injury - on a contending Clippers squad, Preston will be brought along slowly (plenty of reps w/ Agua Caliente) but will likely make a difference (in the Show) sooner rather than later

*wasn’t highly touted as a prospect, almost pursued a career in sports - put up his own highlights on social media and (eventually) earned an opportunity to play at Ohio University in college
