UNDERDOG

NBA ROLE: ATHLETIC SWINGMAN

Inevitable trash talk & pretty decent defense are both registered trademarks of Iman Shumpert; drafted 17th overall by the Knicks in 2011, Shump impressed (early on) as a remarkably tough guard who adds a nice defensive punch – great hands, moves well from side to side; with less responsibility in Cleveland, Shump focused on the little things – fighting for rebounds, staying w/ shooters around off-ball screens – that helped CLE capture a title in 2016; OK shooter – great form (almost exclusively shoots after the hop) even if accuracy is not always on point; nice athlete but Shump struggles to finish at the basket, especially if a defender is nearby; excels in dirty work – borderline Star UnderDOG status – Shump’s a nice utility role player
