The 9th overall pick in 2017, Dennis Smith Jr. is an amazing athlete, even by lofty league standards; more explosive than speedy - if Smith Jr. gets a step by, it's followed by a kick out, floater, or poster; doesn't struggle to put the ball in the basket - astute finisher, great w/ his left, goes up, over and thru defenders before converting inside; confident OTD: step backs, leaners, long-range triples are all heavily featured; good shooter but needs to consistently space at a 37-38%+ clip (from deep) to alleviate some defensive pressure; strong, pressure guard who makes life difficult at the point of attack: Smith Jr. has a penchant for turning steals into fast-break flushes - uses strength & lateral quickness to wall off penetration; signed w/ Nets (2023): performed very well in previous stops - pace changer/two-way playmaker off the bench
