The Golden State Warriors earned the #7 last night in an impressive, close victory over Memphis (at home). Though the officiating left much to be desired (on both sides), the two teams delivered a “Play-In Classic,” - Memphis nearly pulled off a 20-point comeback, going blow for blow w/ the Dubs for the majority of the fourth quarter.
But what makes Golden State scary, as a lower seed, is the emerging chemistry between Jimmy & Steph. In their first postseason game, the duo combined for 75! pts…that alone should make everyone else think twice about counting them out moving forward. Sure, the point totals might not always reach that mark, but the fact that both are performing at such a high level (early on) bodes well for their prospects.
Two late triples by Steph ended up sealing the deal. For the Grizz, they will need to defeat the winner of Sacramento v. Dallas to earn the #8 seed. Ja Morant injured his ankle in the 3rd but returned to the game. His status for next game is worth monitoring, though all signs indicate he will play his normal workload.
Golden State v. Houston is a crazy 1st-round matchup - early prediction: guaranteed to go 7 games.
