CARMELO ANTHONY (LAL)
#7•MELO
F • 6’8, 238 lbs; 19th year, Syracuse
HYBRID
NBA ROLE: (VETERAN) SCORING, HYBRID FORWARD
MELOOO: one of the smoothest scorers the game has seen: ‘how do you want it, let me(lo) count the ways’ – buckets from deep, midrange, after a deadly jab step, driving to the hole, from the foul line – if there’s a way to put the ball in the basket, Melo can craft a thesis in his sleep; still does damage from between the lines (turnarounds, pull-ups, fadeaways); one of the best options in the league as a catch & shoot threat: Melo’s hyper-quick shot release is money from the elbow, takes tremendous pressure off players who command extra attn from defenders; Melo carried his team’s offense for the better part of his career – has adjusted to less opportunity & a position change (to PF) the latter part of his career; one of the most decorated non-title winners in league history – sometimes chastised for being a selfish player despite incredible scoring numbers – winning the 1st title of his career in a supporting role will dispel any (ridiculous) notions regarding Melo’s ability to sacrifice; hand in glove fit w/ Lakers* – key 6th man, Melo’s able to play his game, makes a huge impact in Coach Vogel’s lineup
*1st season playing w/ (long-time friend) LeBron James - (NBA Draft) class of ‘03 standup!
