Rudy Gay’s been one of the most magnificent scorers at the small forward position the majority of his career; Gay gives you about 15-18 points every single night – can do so much on offense: fadeaway J’s, threes, elbow post-ups, quick swing-thrus – tough matchup, often commands attn from top defenders; transitioned to the four spot in San Antonio – struggles with stronger guys on D but uses his speed and shooting ability to create mismatches; had an unfair reputation as a ‘me-first’ player, a narrative created (largely) because of Gay’s inconsistent history; works well as a sniper/hybrid scorer off the bench – Rudy doesn't need big minutes, still provides a vital offensive punch; signed w/ Dubs (2023): chance to compete for his 1st NBA title in 2024?
