SALTY DOG
NBA ROLE: VERSATILE DEFENDER
Robert Covington aka ‘RoCo’ is a (very) solid defensive forward in the league; earned a permanent spot in the Show during the 2014-15 season – broke out after being selected #1 overall in the D-League Draft; a rarity in today’s league: Covington’s a solid 3-pt. shooter who loves working on D* (plays passing lanes well, fights for positioning, gets a lot of steals) & crashing the glass; plays much bigger than his size, able to check 3-5 with success; though Covington can shoot – doesn’t need any time or space to launch a three – he needs to continue developing** more counters off the dribble, finishing with his off hand & using his frame to get inside & draw contact/FTs; fills break well in transition; traded to Sixers (2023) – RoCo is a reserve forward for Coach Nurse
