France’s Killian Hayes: 7th overall pick in 2020; great size - 6’5 lefty, probes well around screens hunting his shot - can score against the grain, leverages body well; can be too reliant on runners amongst the trees - must learn to finish better/draw contact at the basket; learning how to adapt to different situations, understands how/when to make plays for his teammates; possesses a low handle w/ quick crosses: Killian utilizes a nice hesitation dribble to get to spots in the PnR - has recently added more counters off the bounce (in the midrange area); shak outside shooter, needs to work on a more consistent release point off the catch; does well advancing the ball to a point in transition; solid defender w/ nice hands, though has experienced some growing pains v. smaller, more dynamic guards; cutting down turnovers & better ball security will come through more game experience; complements Cade Cunningham & Jaden Ivey as a secondary playmaker; project w/ great potential, settling in as a true playmaker in Detroit - patience is vital: can Hayes help DET fight for a playoff spot in 2024?
